BOTH PLATFORMS PRESENT MORE THAN 4000 ALLEGATIONS AND UNITE TO EXPAND AND CANCEL THE PROJECT OF THE SPANISH ELECTRICITY NETWORK.
THEY JOINTLY WRITE THIS PRESS RELEASE, CUT AND PUBLISHED TODAY, MARCH 7, 2019, OF IN VARIOUS MEDIA OF GRANADA.
THE PRESS RELEASE SAID:
PLATFORM SAY NO TO THE HIGH-TENSION TOWERS LECRÍN VALLEY-LA ALPUJARRA
Today Thursday 7 of March the Platform Di No to the Towers of High Tension in the Valley of Lecrín and The Alpujarra has presented more than 4000 allegations of neighbors against the project of the laying of towers of high tension and construction of a substation by Electrical Network of Es Campaign (REE) in these regions, which constitutes an unprecedented fact.
The REE Project aims initially to install 362 towers between 40 and 81 meters high and a substation of 14,000 square meters in the heart of the region of the Valley of Lecrín.
The works comprise the construction of 182 new km of circuit of lines of 220 kv (which include the sections of The Fargue-Saleres, as well as the substation of Saleres mentioned and two connections of the same one with the lines Gabias-Órgiva and Berja-Órgiva; also Of a last stretch of line between Saleres and Benahadux in Almería).
Of The total of these 182 kilometres of planned power lines almost half of the projected lines will run through our regions. During the last months both from the Alpujarra and from the Valley of Lecrín, the citizens have valued what seems to be that REE has been overlooked. With advice from experts in various disciplines such as law, economists, environmental engineering and various chairs, etc., make clear both the irregularities of form and content with which this project is presented, as the Devastating impact that this electric highway would cause in both areas, developing such conclusions in the extensive packages of allegations that have been submitted since the first delivery, on 5 February this year.
Despite the magnitude of this route, the analysis of conditions carried out by the company requesting is manifestly concise, ridiculous and interested. In fact, this project involves a direct aggression to the environmental, scenic, cultural and patrimonial patrimony of the Lecrín Valley and The Alpujarra, unique and unique spaces in Spain, being considered two of the 17 Landscapes of Cultural Interest of the Province and which have recently submitted nominations for UNESCO World Heritage site due to its outstanding universal and exceptional value.
Although REE says that his project is "the best proposal from an environmental and social point of view", the company does not offer a comprehensive, coherent and adequate environmental assessment.
The Study of Environmental Impact elaborated contains many simplifications. How is it possible that a double line of towers between 40 and 81 meters high, which crosses the heart of such significant spaces, has an "insignificant impact" on the landscape? Its analysis also contains inaccurate assessments and omissions in relation to the protected species of flora and fauna of the region, which are already in a manifestly regressive situation and could lead to the biological desertification of the affected areas, Putting ahead the interests and benefits of a private entity by not respecting the ecological limits and endangering innumerable vulnerable species.
From The social point of view the documentation does not value its socio-economic effects, as in the case of the rural tourism industry, the economic engine of both regions that depend entirely on preserving its natural beauty. The losses in this area are encrypted in more than €16 million a year, as pointed out by an independent analysis carried out by professors and economists of the universities of Granada, Rey Juan Carlos and Cambridge on the conditions in the Lecrín Valley, which are considered Similar to The Alpujarra, with the consequent loss of jobs and closing of business.
Likewise, the project lacks a sufficient analysis of the conditions that it would have for the health of the inhabitants of the zone, since these are based on some Recommendations of the European Union obsolete, since they date from the year 1999 (1999/519/CE). In fact, the Commission itself, in its last Resolution, to date, on health considerations related to electromagnetic fields, dating back to 2009 (2008/2211 (INI)), calls for a review of the scientific basis and adequacy of the limits of Electromagnetic fields.
It Is paradoxical that REE presents this project accompanied by an initiative that has been dubbed "Lecrinnova", which aims to dynamize the agricultural and rural sectors. For This purpose it allocates 700,000 euros of a budget of 105 million euros, or what is the same, 0.4% of its investment. This fact, on its own, shows the lack of interest of the electric carrier in a territory that seeks to fracture until it becomes a swarm of lines of high tension impassable.
These examples, as well as others included in the various allegations presented, show that the project does not contribute any kind of wealth or benefit to the regions affected, because it is a mere highway of electricity that will not even supply the area, if Not that its ultimate goal is to transport energy to places far away.
Among other irregularities is the obscurantism with which this project has been presented and the parcelled way of doing it throughout the Spanish territory. We Have had many problems of access to the projects, we know that there are many communities that are or have been in the same situation that we are now and our intention is to communicate with other platforms of the Andalusian territory and of all Spain to unify us Against this barbarism on a single Civic platform.
Say No to the Towers urges REE to reconsider their plans, respecting the interests and objections of the neighbors rather than trampling on them and ignoring them.
